Dr. Song Zhu focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, procurement, and counseling. The Daily Journal named Dr. Zhu among the Top 75 Intellectual Property Lawyers in California. IAM Patent 1000 recognized him as one of the world's leading patent practitioners. He has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2020.
Dr. Zhu has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications. The patent applications involve a variety of technologies including semiconductor manufacturing, telecommunications, computer systems and software, electronic devices, renewable energy, automotive systems, and medical devices.
Dr. Zhu has represented Chinese, U.S. and European clients in litigation cases in the U.S., China and Europe. His recent cases include representing a Chinese company in trade secret litigation against its former employees in California; representing Chinese company in copyright litigation in New York; representing a Chinese company in a trademark and copyright litigation in California; representing a Chinese company in defamation and unfair competition litigation in California; representing Chinese defendants in a successful appeal of $340,000,000 judgments in the U.S.; representing a US company in a patent infringement and trade secret action in China against Chinese defendants, the US company’s recovery is the largest ever by a foreign company in China, All China Lawyers Association named the case one of the “Top Ten IP Cases of 2012;” representing a US company in a patent licensing dispute against Chinese and Taiwanese companies before Shenzhen Intermediate Court; representing a Canadian company against a US company in a patent infringement case before Jiangsu High Court; representing a US client in a patent enforcement action against several Germany- and China-based companies at a trade show in Germany; representing the same US client in infringement lawsuits filed in Germany following the enforcement action at the trade show; representing a Chinese company in a non-infringement action in China against a US company that accused the Chinese company of patent infringement; representing a Chinese company in computer software and trade secret litigation in the United States; representing a U.S. company in design infringement litigation in China against several Chinese companies.

He has negotiated and drafted dozens of licensing and joint research agreements.
Dr. Zhu also has arbitration practice. He was an arbitrator in an ICC arbitration.
Dr. Zhu is a frequent speaker on intellectual property protection in the United States and China and has lectured at Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley.
